The practical calls that shape your trip.

Jamaica is warm throughout the year. December to April is the most popular period for drier weather and cooler evenings, while May to November usually brings fewer crowds, better hotel value and a greater chance of short tropical showers. Coastal weather can change quickly, so leave some flexibility in your plans.

Private transfers are the easiest option for airport arrivals and travel between Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios. Taxis and organised tours work well for shorter journeys and day trips. Driving is on the left, and travel times can be longer than the distance suggests, so plan transfers in advance.

Jamaica can suit both relaxed mid-range trips and high-end resort stays. Local restaurants and guesthouses offer strong value, while beachfront resorts, private transfers and excursions raise the daily cost. US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, although Jamaican dollars are useful for local purchases.

Entry requirements depend on your passport, nationality and length of stay. Travellers should carry a valid passport, confirmation of accommodation and proof of onward or return travel. Check the latest official Jamaican entry requirements before departure, as visa and arrival rules may change.

The most popular period is December through April, when conditions are generally drier and evenings are more comfortable. May through November often offers better value and fewer visitors, but tropical showers are more likely. Hurricane season runs from June through November, so flexible bookings and travel insurance are recommended.
Jamaica remains a major Caribbean destination, but travellers should review the latest official travel advice before departure. Stay in established resort areas, arrange transfers through trusted providers, avoid carrying valuables openly and follow hotel and local guidance when exploring outside tourist zones.
